Abstract
The authors offers their perspectives regarding concerns raised by the public on both sides of the Taiwan Strait whether Taiwanese president Ma Ying-Jeou will negotiate and sign an agreement for the establishment of a military-confidence-building mechanism with mainland China following Ying-Jeou’s reelection. They discuss the relationship between the two countries, including economic and military relations. They note that both governments declared support for the establishment of the mechanism.
