Abstract
As the US is becoming more central to global energy as a result of its success in oil and gas production, it has caused the plummeting in oil prices. The success of American oil producers has also led to a decrease in oil imports, which, as experts suggest, could lead to a decreased reliance on the Middle East for oil. The US, though, is not the only player in the international spectrum hungry for oil. In recent years, Asia, specifically China, has begun increasing its need for oil. In February 2008, China drove oil prices to above $100 per barrel. In this article, Levi examines how Asia is beginning to influence and shape the future of global energy and become more of a player in the global energy industry.
