Abstract
This article examines the history of Chinese sea-power and how it has developed over time. Wei argues that Chinese interests in maritime policy stem from a desire to protect national interests and ensure maritime security in the region. Chinese sea-power must have Chinese characteristics; therefore, China’s maritime policy entails multiple strategies that serve to further national interests, which this article takes a deeper look into.
