Abstract
U.S. law as well as UN sanctions dictate that the selling of dual-use items – items that can be utilized  for both peaceful purposes and nuclear weapon development – is illegal. One method in combating nuclear proliferation that the U.S. has been pursuing is to follow the money trail behind the movement of this prohibited technology. While the international community has tried for many years to come up with an effective solution for nuclear non-proliferation, the U.S. has been the sole nation to actually impose sanctions on banned materials that can be used for nuclear weapon development. This article identifies signals of financial nuclear proliferation and examines how the U.S. has dealt with this issue.
