Indyk, Martin

Abstract
By sending Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to the Middle East, it seems as if President Obama is putting his “Pivot to Asia” on hold. In this article, Indyk explains why it is important for the White House to shift its focus on the Middle East by examining the Israeli-Palestine conflict. The United States seeks to stabilize relations between Israel and Palestine in order to come up with a resolution for the conflict, and it is looking to its ally, Egypt, for assistance. Indyk argues that President Obama, by pivoting back to the Middle East, has the potential to assuage the Israel-Palestine conflict.
