The present book discusses some problems related to the development of nuclear energy in Asian countries. It is quite safe to say that nuclear energy plant is new to most Asian countries, with exception are Japan, South Korea, India, China and Taiwan although there were talks on nuclear projects in the past. However China and other Asian countries apparently begin to go forward with ambitious plans to include nuclear energy into their energy mix in order to secure their energy supply in the future. However, considering various recent developments in renewable energy technologies and supplies, we can say that renewable energy is becoming more economically competitive compared to nuclear energy, in particular because nuclear energy requires significant subsidies from government. We conclude that decision makers in Asia should consider renewable energy in particular wind energy seriously in their energy mix for the future in addition to coal, natural gas and other sources.
